About Meme Captions
The familiar look — heavy white capitals with a thick black outline — exists for a practical reason. Memes get reposted at unpredictable sizes over unpredictable backgrounds, and a stroked glyph stays legible on both a bright sky and a dark shadow. Impact became the default simply because it shipped with every copy of Windows and macOS, so the same file rendered identically everywhere.
This tool keeps that convention but lets you break it: change the typeface, drop the outline to zero for a cleaner caption, or switch off uppercase for a subtler tone.
Long captions wrap automatically and the font shrinks until the text block fits, so a wordy punchline stays inside the frame rather than running off the edge. The export is always the original image resolution — only the preview is scaled to your screen.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the classic meme font called Impact?
Impact is a very heavy condensed typeface that ships with both Windows and macOS, so early meme images rendered identically everywhere. White Impact with a black outline became the convention and stuck.
Does my image get uploaded?
No. The image is drawn onto an HTML canvas in your browser and the download is generated locally. Nothing is sent to a server, and nothing is stored.
Why does long text shrink automatically?
Text is wrapped to the image width, and if it still overflows the font size steps down until it fits. That keeps captions inside the frame instead of running off the edge.
What image formats can I use?
Any format your browser can display — JPG, PNG, WebP, and GIF. Note that an animated GIF is flattened to its first frame, because canvas captures a single still.
What size is the downloaded meme?
Exactly the dimensions of the image you uploaded. The on-screen preview is scaled to fit your window, but the export is always full resolution.
