How to Use
- 1. Pick a start date and an end date.
- 2. Choose which days count as your weekend.
- 3. Add any public holidays to exclude.
- 4. Read the working-day total, or switch to "Add working days" to find a deadline.
Why Business Days Matter
Contracts, notice periods, SLAs, payment terms, and shipping estimates are almost always written in business days rather than calendar days. "Within 10 working days" can land anywhere from 14 to 18 calendar days later depending on where the weekends and holidays fall — which is exactly why counting by hand goes wrong.
The working week is not universal either. Saturday and Sunday is the most common pattern, but Friday and Saturday is standard across much of the Middle East, and plenty of businesses run a six-day week. That is why the non-working days here are selectable rather than fixed.
One subtlety worth knowing: a public holiday that falls on a weekend is not deducted twice. That day was already excluded as a weekend, so counting it again would understate your working days — a common error in hand-rolled spreadsheet formulas.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the calculation include the end date?
By default yes, because most contracts and SLAs count the final day. Turn off "Include end date" to measure the gap between the dates instead — useful when counting nights rather than days.
Can I change which days count as the weekend?
Yes. Saturday and Sunday are selected by default, but you can pick any combination — Friday/Saturday for much of the Middle East, or a single rest day for a six-day week.
How do I exclude public holidays?
Add each holiday date to the list. They are subtracted from the working-day total. A holiday that falls on a weekend is not counted twice, since that day was already excluded.
What does "add working days" do?
It answers the other common question: if something takes 10 business days from today, what date is that? It steps forward one day at a time, skipping weekends and holidays, until the count is reached.
Are timezones handled correctly?
Dates are treated as UTC midnight, so the result never shifts by a day based on where you are. The date you type is the date that is counted.
