Merge PDF Files Instantly — Free Online PDF Combiner
UseToolify's PDF merger lets you combine multiple PDF files into a single, polished document in seconds — all inside your browser. Whether you're consolidating reports, joining invoices, assembling contracts, bundling book chapters, or combining presentation slides, this tool handles it instantly without any software installation.
Privacy is a first-class concern: your files are never uploaded to any server. The entire merge operation happens locally using the PDF-lib JavaScript library running in your tab. Once you close the page, nothing is retained. No account, no tracking, no data sharing.
Beyond basic merging, the tool gives you full control over page management before you combine. Use the Files view to drag entire PDFs into your preferred order or remove file cards you no longer need. A page-by-page view is planned but not available yet. You can also mix in JPEG, PNG, and WebP images alongside your PDFs; they are automatically converted and inserted as pages in the final output.

Guide
How to merge PDF files into one document
Paperwork rarely arrives as a single file. A loan application might need an identity proof, a bank statement, a rent agreement and a photo of a signed form, each saved separately. This tool joins them into one PDF, in the order you choose, so you can send or upload a single file instead of a folder of attachments.
You can mix PDFs with JPG, PNG and WebP images, and each image becomes its own page. Up to 20 files can be combined in one go.
Step by step
- Drop your files on the upload area, or click it and pick them. PDFs, JPG, PNG and WebP are accepted; any other file type is quietly ignored.
- Check the toolbar, which shows the file count and total pages. Each card has a numbered badge for its position, plus a page count for PDFs.
- Drag the cards in Files View until the numbers match the order you want. Use the small cross on a card to remove a file, or Add More to bring in further files (the limit is 20).
- Type a name into the Output filename box. The default is merged, and .pdf is added for you.
- Press the Merge button, which reads Merge N Files into PDF and needs at least two files. The combined PDF downloads straight away.
When this is useful
- Bundling KYC documents, address proof and a salary slip into one upload for a bank or loan portal.
- Joining the chapters of a report that several colleagues wrote and exported separately.
- Putting a scanned signature page or a photographed receipt at the end of a contract PDF.
- Combining a month of utility bills into one file for a reimbursement claim.
Worked example: Four documents, one upload
Suppose you add rent-agreement.pdf (6 pages), aadhaar.pdf (2 pages), bank-statement.pdf (4 pages) and a phone photo, pan-card.jpg (1 page). The toolbar reads 4 file(s) and 13 total pages, because 6 + 2 + 4 + 1 = 13. You drag the PAN photo to position 2, type loan-application in the filename box and press Merge 4 Files into PDF. The file loan-application.pdf downloads with 13 pages in the order shown. If pan-card.jpg measures 1600 by 1200 pixels, its page is 1600 by 1200 points (about 22 by 17 inches), far larger than the A4 pages around it.
Tips for better results
- Name source files 01-, 02-, 03- before adding them so they arrive in order.
- Image pages are sized to the picture itself, so a large photo makes a page that is much bigger than an A4 sheet next to its neighbours. If you want uniform pages, build the image pages first with the Images to PDF tool and merge the result.
- If an upload form has a size cap, run the merged file through Compress PDF afterwards; merging does not shrink anything.
- Open the result and scroll through it once before sending; it catches a wrong order in seconds.
Common mistakes
- Adding a password-protected PDF. The tool opens files without asking for a password, so an encrypted file may fail with a message that it could not be processed. Remove the password first with the Unlock PDF tool, if you are entitled to.
- Expecting page-level editing. Files View moves whole files only, Pages View currently just says page previews are not available, and there is no rotate or per-page delete. Fix sideways or unwanted pages before merging.
- Expecting bookmarks or fillable form fields to survive. Pages are copied across, but document-level extras may not come with them.
- Dropping in a Word or Excel file. It is skipped silently and the file count does not rise, so export it to PDF first.
Your files and privacy
Files are read and joined inside your browser with the pdf-lib library, and they are not sent to our server. The page does report that this tool was opened, using the tool name and an anonymous random browser ID, but never the contents or names of your files.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a limit on how many files I can merge?
Yes, 20 files per merge. If you try to add more, the tool tells you how many slots are left. For bigger jobs, merge in two rounds.
Can I merge pictures with PDFs?
Yes. JPG, PNG and WebP images can sit alongside PDFs, and each becomes one page sized to the image rather than to standard paper. WebP is converted to PNG on the way in.
How do I change the order after adding files?
In Files View, press and drag a card onto the position you want and release. The numbered badges update to show the new sequence.
Why did I get an error saying a file may be encrypted or corrupted?
The tool could not read that file, usually because of a password or a damaged download. If a PDF viewer asks for a password, remove it with the Unlock PDF tool and try again.
Will merging reduce or increase the file size?
The result is roughly the sum of the inputs. If it is too large for an upload form, use Compress PDF or Resize PDF in KB afterwards.
