Random Number Generator

Generate random integers or decimals within any range, with optional uniqueness. Instant, free.

How to Use

  1. Step 1: Set your minimum and maximum values to define the range.
  2. Step 2: Choose how many numbers to generate using the Count field (up to 1000).
  3. Step 3: Toggle "Integer only" for whole numbers or off for decimals. Enable "Unique values" to avoid duplicates.
  4. Step 4: Click Generate. Copy individual results or use "Copy All" to copy the full list.

About Random Number Generator

Random number generators are fundamental tools in mathematics, statistics, computing, and everyday decision-making. From simulating dice rolls and card shuffles to statistical sampling, A/B testing, and cryptographic key generation, the need to produce unpredictable values appears across virtually every field.

This tool uses JavaScript's built-in Math.random() function, which implements a pseudo-random number generator (PRNG) based on an algorithm seeded from system entropy. While not suitable for cryptographic applications, it provides excellent randomness for all practical uses including simulations, games, sampling, and randomized testing.

The unique mode uses a Fisher-Yates shuffle to efficiently select non-repeating values from the range. Integer mode generates whole numbers within [min, max] inclusive, while decimal mode generates values in [min, max) rounded to 6 significant figures. All computation runs entirely in your browser — no data is sent to any server.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a random number generator?

A random number generator (RNG) produces numbers that have no predictable pattern. Pseudo-random generators like this one use mathematical algorithms seeded from system entropy to approximate true randomness.

Can I generate multiple numbers at once?

Yes — set the Count field to any value between 1 and 1000 to generate that many numbers in one click.

What does "unique" mean?

When enabled, each generated number appears only once in the result — no duplicates. This requires the range to contain at least as many values as the requested count.

Can I generate decimal numbers?

Yes — toggle off "Integer only" to generate decimal numbers with up to 6 significant figures.

Is this truly random?

This uses JavaScript's Math.random() which is a pseudo-random number generator (PRNG). It is suitable for games, simulations, and sampling but not for cryptographic purposes.
