JSON Diff Checker
Compare two JSON objects and instantly see what was added, removed, or changed.
How to Use
- 1. Paste your original JSON into the JSON A panel.
- 2. Paste the modified JSON into the JSON B panel.
- 3. The diff result updates instantly — green lines are additions, red lines are deletions, gray lines are unchanged.

About JSON Diff Checker
JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is the universal data interchange format for APIs, configuration files, and data storage. When working with JSON — comparing API responses, tracking config changes, or debugging data transformations — you need to quickly identify exactly what changed between two versions.
Our JSON Diff tool takes a deep, structural approach: both JSON documents are flattened into a flat map of dot-notation key paths to their values (e.g., user.address.city → "New York"). This flat map is then compared key by key, producing a clear line-by-line diff showing every addition, deletion, and modification — no matter how deeply nested.
This approach is particularly powerful for API response comparison, where you need to verify that a refactored endpoint returns the same payload, or for detecting unintended side effects in configuration changes. It handles arbitrarily nested objects and arrays, with array indices shown as bracket notation (e.g., items[0].price).
All processing runs entirely in your browser — your JSON data is never sent to any server. Results appear instantly as you type, with zero latency.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does JSON Diff do?
It flattens both JSON objects into key-path → value pairs and compares them. Lines shown in green were added in the right JSON, lines in red were removed (present in left but not right), and unchanged lines appear in gray.
Does it handle nested JSON?
Yes. Nested objects and arrays are flattened into dot-notation paths (e.g., user.address.city or items[0].name), making it easy to spot exactly which nested field changed.
Is my JSON data sent to any server?
No. All diffing is done entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your JSON never leaves your device.
Can I diff JSON arrays?
Yes. Array elements are compared by index (e.g., [0], [1]). If elements are objects, their keys are diffed individually.
