Text Case Converter Online

Convert text to UPPERCASE, lowercase, camelCase, snake_case, kebab-case, and more — instantly.

How It Works

  1. 1Type or paste your text into the input field.
  2. 2Click any of the case format buttons to instantly convert your text to that style.
  3. 3Copy the converted text to your clipboard with the Copy button.

About Case Conversion

Text case conversion is a common task across writing, coding, and data processing. Writers need Title Case for headlines and Sentence case for body text. Developers need camelCase for JavaScript variables, PascalCase for class names, snake_case for Python identifiers and database columns, and kebab-case for CSS classes and URL slugs. Manually reformatting text between these styles is tedious and error-prone — especially for long strings or batch renaming.

Our Case Converter handles all ten common formats in one place. Standard formats like UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, and Sentence case preserve all characters. Programming formats — camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, and kebab-case — strip non-alphanumeric characters to produce clean, valid identifiers. The fun aLtErNaTe and Inverse modes flip casing character by character, which is handy for creative text or testing. All conversions happen instantly in your browser, with no data leaving your device.

How to Use

  1. 1. Paste or type the text you want to reformat.
  2. 2. Pick a case style — UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, camelCase, snake_case, kebab-case, or PascalCase.
  3. 3. Copy the converted text with one click.

Frequently Asked Questions

What case formats does this tool support?

We support UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, Sentence case, camelCase, snake_case, kebab-case, PascalCase, aLtErNaTiNg CaSe, and Inverse Case — 10 formats in total.

What is camelCase used for?

camelCase is common in JavaScript and Java variable naming (e.g., myVariableName). The first word is lowercase and each subsequent word starts with a capital letter.

What is the difference between snake_case and kebab-case?

snake_case uses underscores to separate words (common in Python and databases), while kebab-case uses hyphens (common in CSS class names and URL slugs).

Does case conversion work with special characters?

Standard case conversions (upper, lower, title, sentence) preserve all characters. Programming case formats (camel, snake, kebab) strip non-alphanumeric characters to produce clean identifiers.

Is there a character limit?

No. Paste any amount of text — the conversion happens instantly in your browser.

How to change the letter case of text and identifiers

This tool rewrites a block of text in one of ten styles with a single click: UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, Sentence case, camelCase, snake_case, kebab-case, PascalCase, aLtErNaTe and Inverse Case. The first four suit ordinary writing, the next four are naming conventions programmers use, and the last two are mostly for fun or testing.

It is a character transformer, not a style editor. It does not know that GST is an acronym or that small words stay lowercase in a headline. Knowing where it behaves literally lets you fix the output in seconds instead of finding the problem after you have pasted it somewhere important.

Step by step

  1. Type or paste your text into the Input Text box.
  2. Click one of the ten buttons in the grid. The chosen one turns violet and an Output box appears.
  3. Read the result in Output. It is read-only, and your original stays untouched in the input box.
  4. Click another button to compare styles. Each click converts the input again from scratch, so conversions never stack.
  5. If you edit the input afterwards, click a case button again, because the output does not refresh by itself.
  6. Press Copy Output (a green Copied! confirms it), or Clear to empty both boxes.

When this is useful

  • Repairing a heading or email subject typed in capitals, or text from an old export that is all lowercase.
  • Turning a plain label such as customer billing address into customer_billing_address for a database column or customerBillingAddress for a variable.
  • Making URL slugs and CSS class names from titles, for example diwali sale 2026 into diwali-sale-2026.
  • Rescuing a paragraph typed with Caps Lock on by switching it to Sentence case.
  • Making alternating-case text for a post, or Inverse Case strings for testing.

Worked example: One label, many styles

Input: Monthly GST Return Summary. UPPERCASE gives MONTHLY GST RETURN SUMMARY. Title Case gives Monthly Gst Return Summary, so GST has been lowercased after its first letter. Sentence case gives Monthly gst return summary. camelCase gives monthlyGstReturnSummary, PascalCase gives MonthlyGstReturnSummary, snake_case gives monthly_gst_return_summary and kebab-case gives monthly-gst-return-summary. Separately, aLtErNaTe on Hello World returns hElLo wOrLd, and Inverse Case on Hello World 123 returns hELLO wORLD 123, since digits have no case.

Tips for better results

  • For a headline, run Title Case and then lowercase small words such as of and the by hand. The tool capitalises the first letter of every word.
  • For identifiers, give it words separated by spaces. Type order total amount, not orderTotalAmount, because it cannot split words that are already joined.
  • Convert one identifier at a time. The box is treated as one string, so the programming styles will merge multiple lines into one long name.
  • After Sentence case, restore capitals for names, places and the word I. Everything is lowercased first.

Common mistakes

  • Running Title Case on acronyms. Everything after the first letter is lowercased, so Monthly GST Return becomes Monthly Gst Return. Retype the acronyms afterwards.
  • Expecting hyphenated or accented words to be handled neatly. Mother-in-law keeps lowercase after the hyphens, and a word starting with an accent, such as élan, becomes éLan, because only A-Z, digits and underscore count as word characters.
  • Using snake_case or kebab-case on hyphenated input. Only whitespace becomes the separator and other punctuation is deleted, so hello-world example becomes helloworld_example. Replace hyphens with spaces first.
  • Converting Hindi or other non-Latin text into identifiers. The programming styles remove everything outside a-z and 0-9, so those letters vanish. Transliterate to English first.
  • Leaving stray spaces or punctuation at the ends. A leading space gives a leading underscore in snake_case, and a trailing full stop survives camelCase. Trim first.

Your files and privacy

The conversion happens in your browser and the text is not uploaded, stored or logged by the tool. Opening the page sends a small usage note with the tool name and a random anonymous visitor ID kept in your browser, but never what you type. Copy Output places the result on your device clipboard.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between camelCase and PascalCase?

Both join words with no separator and capitalise each new word. camelCase starts with a lowercase letter (userFirstName) and PascalCase starts with a capital (UserFirstName). Many languages use camelCase for variables and PascalCase for classes.

When should I use snake_case and when kebab-case?

snake_case is common for Python names and database columns, partly because a hyphen is read as a minus sign in many programming and SQL contexts. kebab-case is common for CSS classes, file names and URL slugs, where hyphens read as word separators.

Does Sentence case fix names and the word I?

No. It lowercases everything, then capitalises the first letter of the text and the first letter after a full stop, question mark or exclamation mark. Proper nouns, acronyms and a stand-alone i need capitals added by hand.

How exactly do aLtErNaTe and Inverse Case work?

Alternate counts every character, spaces included, and makes even positions lowercase and odd positions uppercase. Inverse Case swaps each letter to the opposite case and leaves digits and symbols alone.

Can I convert several lines separately?

UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title, Sentence, Alternate and Inverse keep your line breaks. camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case and kebab-case treat line breaks as separators and merge everything into one name, so convert those one line at a time.
