Text to Binary Converter Online

Convert text to binary code or binary back to text instantly — all in your browser.

Separator:

How It Works

  1. 1Choose a mode — Text → Binary converts plain text to 8-bit binary groups; Binary → Text does the reverse.
  2. 2Type or paste your input. The output updates in real-time as you type.
  3. 3Select a separator style (space, none, newline) for the binary output, then copy the result.

About Text to Binary Conversion

Binary is the fundamental language of computers. Every character, image, and file is ultimately stored as a series of 1s and 0s. In ASCII encoding, each character is assigned a number from 0 to 127, and that number is then represented in binary. For example, the uppercase letter "A" has ASCII code 65, which in 8-bit binary is 01000001.

This tool lets you explore that relationship directly — type any text and instantly see its binary representation. You can choose how binary groups are separated (spaces for readability, no separator for compact output, or newlines for one byte per line). The reverse operation — binary to text — also accepts pasted binary with spaces between bytes and reconstructs the original string character by character.

How to Use

  1. 1. Enter plain text to convert it to binary, or paste binary to convert it back.
  2. 2. The conversion runs as you type, using standard ASCII encoding.
  3. 3. Copy the output.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does text to binary conversion work?

Each character is converted to its ASCII code, then that decimal number is converted to 8-bit binary.

How do I convert binary back to text?

Switch to Binary → Text mode, paste binary groups separated by spaces, and the tool converts each 8-bit group to a character.

Does it support extended characters?

It supports standard ASCII characters. For Unicode characters above code point 255, the binary output may span more than 8 bits.

What does the separator option do?

It controls how binary groups are separated: spaces are easiest to read, no separator gives the most compact output.
