Why Choose Our PDF Rotator?
Our Rotate PDF tool is built for the modern browser. It uses pdf-lib, a powerful open-source PDF library, to apply rotation flags directly to each page — meaning the page content is never re-encoded or resampled. The result is zero quality loss, even after multiple rotations.
Many online PDF rotators require you to upload your file to a remote server before they process it. With UseToolify, everything runs locally in your browser using WebAssembly. Your confidential documents, contracts, medical records, or personal files never leave your device. There is no server, no account, and no tracking.
You can rotate individual pages independently — for example, if page 3 is upside down but the rest of the document is fine. Or, use the Rotate All buttons to flip the entire document at once. Both 90° clockwise, 90° counter-clockwise, and 180° rotations are supported.
If your PDF contains a mix of portrait and landscape pages after rotation, enable "Make all pages same width" to normalize the page box dimensions and produce a more uniform-looking document. The tool works with any PDF — scanned documents, reports, eBooks, forms, and more. It is completely free, with no file size limits, no watermarks, and no hidden charges.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs entirely in your browser using pdf-lib. Your file never leaves your device.
Can I rotate only specific pages?
Yes. Each page has its own rotate buttons (90° clockwise, 90° counter-clockwise, 180°). You can mix rotations freely across pages.
What does "Make all pages same width" do?
After rotation, some pages may be portrait and others landscape, resulting in different widths. This option expands narrower pages to match the widest page so the document looks uniform.
Does rotation reduce PDF quality?
No. pdf-lib sets the rotation flag in the PDF metadata — the page content itself is never re-encoded or resampled, so there is zero quality loss.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no imposed limit. Processing happens in your browser, so performance depends on your device memory for very large files.
Can I undo a rotation?
Yes. Click the opposite rotation button on the same page, or use the Reset All button to clear all rotations at once.

Guide
How to rotate pages in a PDF
Pages come out sideways more often than you might expect: a phone scan taken in landscape, a form fed into the scanner the wrong way, or one landscape table inside a portrait report. This tool shows every page as a thumbnail so you can turn the wrong ones, or the whole document, and save a corrected copy.
Rotation is stored as a property of each page, and the tool adds your turn to whatever rotation the page already carries. The text and images are not redrawn.
Step by step
- Drop a PDF onto the upload area or click to browse. Thumbnails appear in a grid, with the file name, page count and size above.
- To turn the whole document, use the Rotate All buttons: 90 degrees counter-clockwise, 90 degrees clockwise or 180 degrees.
- To turn one page, use the three buttons on its thumbnail: Rotate 90 left, Rotate 90 right and Rotate 180. The thumbnail turns at once so you can see the result.
- Press Reset All, which appears after any rotation, to clear every turn without reloading the file.
- Optionally switch on Make all pages same width, then press Download PDF. The file is saved with -rotated added to its name.
When this is useful
- Fixing receipts or certificates photographed sideways and exported to PDF.
- Correcting a scan where the feeder took some pages upside down.
- Turning a landscape annexure or table so it reads upright.
- Cleaning up a PDF before sharing so that previews show every page the right way up.
Worked example: Straightening a 12-page scan
Pages 5 to 8 of a 12-page scan came out on their side. Page 5 carries a stored rotation of 270 degrees, which is why it shows sideways. Click Rotate 90 right on pages 5 to 8. For page 5 the tool computes (270 + 90) mod 360 = 0, so it stands upright, and for the others it adds 90 to their existing angle. Download PDF gives scan-rotated.pdf with the other eight pages unchanged.
Tips for better results
- If a page lies on its left side, the right-turn button stands it up. Judge by the thumbnail.
- Use Rotate All first when most pages are wrong, then fix the exceptions one by one.
- Make all pages same width enlarges narrower pages to match the widest visible width. It adds blank space and does not scale content, so use it only when you need uniform page boxes.
- The original is never altered. If the result is wrong, load the original again.
Common mistakes
- Trusting your viewer over the thumbnail. Some viewers apply their own rotation, so the tool's preview is the better guide to the stored page.
- Guessing after a wrong turn. Press the opposite button or Reset All; angles wrap to 0, 90, 180 or 270.
- Expecting a slightly skewed scan to straighten. Only 90-degree steps are available.
- Loading a password-protected PDF. It may fail with a message that the file could be encrypted or corrupted. Open it with the password and save a copy first.
Your files and privacy
Your PDF is read and rewritten in your browser. Thumbnails are drawn with the PDF.js library served from this site and the changes are made with pdf-lib, so the file is not uploaded. Opening the tool sends a small usage ping with the tool name and an anonymous session ID.
Frequently asked questions
Does rotating reduce quality?
No. Only the page rotation setting changes, and the text and images are not re-encoded, so sharpness and fonts stay as they were.
Can I rotate only some pages?
Yes. Each thumbnail has its own buttons, so you can turn page 3 left and page 9 by 180 degrees and leave the rest alone.
What does Make all pages same width do?
After rotation it enlarges narrower pages so their visible width matches the widest one. Content is not stretched; extra blank area is added. Leave it off for ordinary rotation.
Can I undo a rotation?
Before downloading, press the opposite button or Reset All. After downloading, load the original again, because the saved copy keeps its new rotation.
Can I rotate by 45 degrees?
No. Only 90, 180 and 270 degree turns are available, which is how PDF page rotation works.
