About PDF Cropping

PDF cropping works by applying a CropBox to each page. The CropBox defines the visible area of the page — anything outside it is hidden but not deleted. This is the standard approach used by professional PDF editors and is fully reversible.

Margins are measured in PDF points: 1 point = 1/72 inch. A standard A4 page is 595 × 842 points. Common use cases include removing large white borders from scanned documents, trimming printer marks, or standardizing page margins across a document.

You can crop all pages at once or specify individual pages by number. The cropped PDF is downloaded as a separate file — your original is never modified.

Frequently Asked Questions

What unit are the crop values in?

PDF points (pt). 72 pt = 1 inch. An A4 page is 595 × 842 pt.

Does cropping delete the content outside the crop area?

No. PDF cropping applies a CropBox — the content is hidden but still present in the file. It is non-destructive.

Can I crop individual pages?

Yes. Enter page numbers separated by commas, e.g. 1,3,5. Leave as "all" to crop every page.

Will the file size change after cropping?

Usually not significantly, since the hidden content is still stored in the file. Use Compress PDF to reduce file size.
